About the role

The role of ‘IT Manager – Supply Chain Systems’ is new within the IT team at Booker, and will be responsible for supporting and delivering effective, secure, and efficient systems for use by our supply chain teams. We seek an experienced and dynamic senior manager who can help lead the IT supply chain team by collaborating with external vendors, consultants, and internal IT teams to ensure successful service delivery and project delivery within defined timelines and budgets.

The successful candidate will have a consistent record in running supply chain systems and possess an outstanding blend of technical expertise, critical thinking, and leadership skills.

The right candidate will help drive the successful definition and delivery of our systems roadmap through -

  • Leading the end-to-end life cycle of projects ranging in complexity and criticality.
  • Supporting the delivery of improvements of our existing supply chain systems, including system implementation, upgrades, and process optimisation.
  • Inspiring organisational change efforts by championing the benefits of digital transformation, promoting user adoption, and addressing any resistance or challenges.
  • Collaborating with multi-functional teams to define business requirements, developing a forward-looking roadmap, and ensuring successful execution.
  • Enabling the Stop/Simplify/Automate methodology to streamline business processes and drive operational efficiency.
  • Encouraging a culture of opportunity and growth, focusing on supporting and developing colleagues and promoting collaboration.

 

Main Responsibilities

Health, Safe and Legal (Governance, Security and Controls):

  • Continually improve and align with organisational change procedures and system security.
  • Align with all company policies, e.g. financial planning and control, health and safety.
  • Ensure disaster recovery is regularly validated and other risks are regularly reviewed and handled.
  • Ensure system availability, costs and approved project status are reported accurately each period.
  • Work pro-actively to achieve clean internal, external and supplier audits.
  • Work with the procurement and legal teams to source suppliers of IS infrastructure, software, and development/ support services.
  • Handle supplier contracts and licensing agreements to ensure we remain follows contractual terms and conditions.
  • Develop your team, their performance and progression, and support team development.
  • Champion diversity and inclusion to ensure everyone feels welcome at Booker.
  • Empower your team with clear expectations and provide recognition.

Customer Satisfaction:

  • Work to identify issues that will or are impacting systems stability, availability, and functionality, and then work promptly, jointly & proactively to mitigate and resolve such issues.
  • Work with partners to run service perception and the understanding of IS services.
  • Work proactively with team members to improve processes and maximise system asset utilization.
  • Deliver an effective application architecture and development roadmap to support the company's growth plans.
  • Remain knowledgeable about technology trends and innovations.
  • Work promptly, jointly & proactively on projects to improve cash profit & customer happiness.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in full to agreed budgets and timescales, and then reviewed.
  • Fully maximise our supplier’s capacity and capability to undertake project and service activity.

Cash Profit:

  • Lead applications, technical and service architecture efficiently.
  • Provide fit-for-purpose systems at the minimum cost.
  • Handle suppliers to improve value for money on products and services.
  • Run major software and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Find ways to achieve or beat budgeted costs and try to improve costs year-on-year.
  • Deliver new tools and techniques to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Deliver innovation through transformation and continual service improvement.

You will need

  • Experience in managing Supply chain replenishment and forecasting systems in a grocery environment or similar.
  • Strong people management, with proven ability to effectively manage team capability and performance.
  • Proven experience in technical project management and successful delivery of change programmes.
  • Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience with supply chain systems.
  • Building credible and long-lasting relationships with business stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of managing working relationships with external development teams.
  • Consistent delivery of results.
  • Experience of working in an FMCG environment.
  • Good understanding of IT security and data privacy standards.
