About the role

In this bustling and friendly Butchery Department, you will meet and speak to customers, addressing their specific needs for their unique businesses, such as restaurants, cafes, and much more. You will also make recommendations on meats.   

You will support the branch manager in ensuring that the service from your hub is best in class. You will manage a department that is always Health, Safe and Legal, maximising efficiency and availability and delivering excellent customer service.

This role allows you to run a butchery business without the financial risk. We want someone with good product knowledge of all meat protein, who is self-motivated, and who desires to succeed.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that all Butchery activity is managed in line with Be the Best At.
  • Customer orders being prepared accurately, to a high standard and in a timely manner.
  • PRIDE being lived and that the Butchery team aim to assist all customers quickly, professionally.
  • Ensuring that diary tasks are completed and recorded as necessary.
  • Completing the Meat Pick report as required..
  • Supporting new colleagues during their induction.
  • Ensuring that all colleagues maintain a clean, tidy and safe environment in which to work.
  • Leading by example, role modelling the Booker Code of Business Conduct and Win Together Behaviours.
  • Building and maintaining good working relationships internally, and externally.
  • Compliance with company policies and procedures and mandatory training
  • Supporting a Health, Safe and Legal culture.
  • Championing Diversity and Inclusion ensuring Everyone Is Welcome at Booker.

You will need

  • Team management track record.
  • Strong team player.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent problem solving.
  • Great understanding of customer needs.
  • Experience within a Butchery Operation.
  • Great coaching skills.
  • A proven track record for holding people accountable and delivery great standards.
  • The ability to spot and nurture talent.
  • The ability to multitask, prioritise and delegate appropriately.
