About the role

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Transport Team in our Wellingborough Distribution Center. The role is fundamental to the efficient and cost effective management of the Transport operations.

Hours or work are static Tuesday - Saturday / 14.00 to 22.00

Main Responsibilities

  • Managing all transport operations on a daily, period and annual basis
  • Managing vehicle breakdowns whilst ensuring that the impact to the customer is kept to a minimum
  • Analyse Tacho-graph infringement report and go through infringement with drivers
  • Management of ensuring legal compliance with all transport legislation and in particular Driver’s hours.
  • Maintenance of the Fleet so that it is available when required for servicing and MOT’s and Defect Management of the Fleet.
  • Ensuring that all internal systems used within the department are adhered to and assist in the development of these systems.
  • Ensure that all late departures communications are carried out in a professional and timely manner.
  • Ensure driver debriefs are completed.
  • Assists in the development and achievement of operational goals and KPI’s and ensures correct processes and procedures are carried out to improve operations.

You will need

To be successful in this role you should:

- Previous experience of transport within the FMCG distribution industry

- Experience of supervisory or management level within a complex, fast-paced transport operation

- A professional and confident approach with the ability to effectively manage drivers & promote & drive standards of excellence.

- Knowledge of driving compliance and associated regulations. 

- CPC qualified advantageous (but not essential)

- Excellent organisational skills with strong interpersonal skills 

- A good understanding of Employment Law and ACAS Code of Practice
