About the role

Venus Wine & Spirits is a leading specialist drink wholesaler to the on-trade.  Following our recent acquisition by Booker Group, and as we celebrate our 50th anniversary we are looking to the future with an incredibly exciting growth plan that will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the UK hospitality trade.   

 

In this coming year we are opening new depots to bring us closer to more customers and increase our delivery capabilities, building on our reputation for unrivalled service and a market leading range of over three thousand products.  We are also looking to bring outstanding talent into the Venus business to ensure we continue to improve our customer proposition.

 

Specifically for this Commercial Development Manager position we are looking for a highly organised, commercially astute and ambitious person to join our team.  They will support our Head of Sales and work closely with our sales team and colleagues across the broader Booker group to identify and effectively communicate information about commercially beneficial opportunities and ensure Venus deliver an industry-leading service. 

Main Responsibilities

Key tasks and responsibilities for the role will be:

 

  • Drive the exchange of drink and non-drink sales leads between Venus and Booker sales teams and effectively track and report on revenue delivered for Venus.
  • Consolidate key information for the new business pipeline and report to the leadership team on a weekly basis so department heads can plan resource effectively.
  • Update and distribute the monthly sales pack to the leadership team.
  • Maintain the customer contract tracker to ensure measurement of key metrics is up to date.
  • Use sales and industry data to create commercial insights that will enable Venus to win and maintain new business
  • Coordinate joint team activations with key suppliers 
  • Generate and manage delivery to the sales team of the new Venus trade promotional plan  
  • Identify and leverage key opportunities to drive sales to marketplace fulfilment partners

You will need

Qualifications and Requirements:

 

  • A track record of commercial or project management for a food or drinks wholesaler.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and positively influence customers and key stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
  • Excellent commercial acumen and strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficiency in using CRM reporting software, ideally with experience of using Tableau.
  • Willingness to travel as required to meet with customers and attend industry events.
